Julia Reyes-Hamann, calf manager at Hanke Farms, has never lost a calf to scours. Since joining owners Jack and Jim Hanke on the farm seven years ago, she has been giving calves HYDRAFEED Effervescent at the first sign of scours. “Calves really like it and they respond quickly to treatment,” says Hamann. “Calves drink HYDRAFEED and bounce right back.”

With Hanke Farms, Sheboygan, Falls, Wis., milking about 700 cows, Hamann watches over about 80 calves daily on average. Calves are housed in individual pens in a calf barn.

According to Hamann, HYDRAFEED mixes easily in warm water and calves drink it right from the bottle. Most of the time calves react immediately to the treatment and Hamann notes that she rarely has to give IV fluids to calves on HYDRAFEED. As calf manager, Hamann says she does not know how much HYDRAFEED costs. However, she says with a smile, “The owners keep buying it so it must be cost-effective. For the last seven years, I’ve seen nothing but good results.”
